Titanic's final port of call
Titanic's last passengers boarded from Queenstown before the Atlantic crossing.
On 11 April 1912, Queenstown became Titanic's final port of call. The great ship did not berth in the town; passengers were carried out by tender from the harbour.
That detail makes Cobh unusually vivid for Titanic visitors. The story is not abstract here. The White Star Line offices, the waterfront, the harbour and the cathedral skyline all help visitors imagine the last Irish landfall before disaster.
