    How we work

    What we publish

    Every listing has:

    • A source URL - where the underlying fact came from.
    • A last-checked date - the day a human last verified it.
    • A status - published when we're confident, needs review when we're not.
    • A "check before visiting" flag for anything time-sensitive.

    What we don't do

    • We don't invent opening hours, prices or phone numbers.
    • We don't auto-publish AI-drafted entries - every one is reviewed by hand.
    • We don't use AI-generated images as fake representations of real businesses, rooms, dishes, staff or events.
    • We don't run scraping bots against third-party sites.

    Our research workflow

    1. Discover the listing from a public source.
    2. Verify against a direct or official source where possible.
    3. Collect factual fields only.
    4. Write an original short summary in the Cobh Compass voice.
    5. Mark needs_review or published.
    6. Record source_url, discovered_from, and last_checked.

    Corrections

    If something on the site is wrong or out of date, please tell us via the contact page or the "suggest an edit" link on any listing. We aim to fix verified mistakes within a working week.

    Advertising positions

    We may offer paid advertising positions to local businesses. Paid positions will always be visibly marked and kept separate from the free directory listing. Editorial decisions about what gets included or how it is described will never be for sale - advertising buys placement, not opinion.
